White water rafting was cancelled cuz there was no rain the whole of this week which means the water levels are low at the Murray River. The bad news couldn't dampen our adventurous spirits, and it was sea kayaking instead! This wasn't my first time kayaking, but definitely a first out at sea. It was a huge eye opener because the water was rather choppy as we went further out, and the waves made it kinda scary. What I loved was that my white tank remained WHITE even when I got wet because the same thing couldn't be said if I was kayaking at the Kallang River, where my top turned BROWN the last time and I had to throw it away :( The water was extremely clear and the seabed was visible till I don't know where because there wasn't a part where we couldn't see what's underneath.

We first kayaked about 1km to Seal Island where we caught sight of a few sea lions sun basking and rolling about in the sand, with one of them even jumping in and swimming around our kayaks :) Next stop was 2km to Penguin Island, where there was a whole colony of pelicans and of course little penguins. It's now the breeding season so there were heaps of silver gulls/seagulls eggs and baby gulls around which were pretty cute because they're small, brown, ugly and adorable hehe. The final hurdle was kayaking a whole 3km back and it's seriously no joke with an obese person as your kayak partner because that damned thing can't balance and it just goes wobble-wobble-gonna-flip-over-oh-no-i'm-gonna-die-haywire when the wave hits your kayak! Not to mention that guy happened to think that to steer the kayak right, you have to paddle right and if it still goes left, paddle harder! The kayak obviously went left all the way. Grrrrr... I thought it was quite daft of him, I mean you should have seen him paddle right with all his might! Haha. Unfortunately nobody took the risk of holding a camera while at sea so no shots of lovely sea lions :( We did meet a bunch of awesome people though, especially this couple Sue and Neil from Sydney who were so funny and contributed a great deal to our entertainment :) Oh and there were quite a number of fighter planes rehearsing for the Red Bull race in November so we caught some free performance up above us :)

Headed back totally drained with arms almost dislocated and a few sun burns on the shoulders. My little adventurous getaway with J then ended with a 'lunner' at my favourite Korean restaurant on Pier Street :)))
