SIN-KL-IPOH-PENANG-IPOH-KL-SIN

35 minutes flight was prolly my shortest ever. Picked up our cars and headed straight to Ipoh for our first feast of the trip and got our throats cut because of some "special" king prawn that was 26 bucks a piece. Hotel in Penang was quite a hotspot and turned out better than expected. Michelle Yeoh smiled and held the lift for us and all the time we didn't realise who it was until some time later. Lots of HK stars resided in the same hotel too but we couldnt recognise a single person.

Penang = GOOD FOOD. 10 prawn mee 3 bakuteh 3 charkwayteow 2 LARGE oyster omelette 2 pohpiah and 1 seafood platter all for ONE meal and all thanks to dearest housemate's recommendation :) Dropped in at Miami Green and missed that lovely holiday home shitloads. 16 levels atop a hill right in front of the beach with an incessant breeze that got a little chilly more often than not.

Queensbay Mall = SHOPPING SPREE. The Forever 21 was at least 5 times Wisma's, I can't quite comprehand what caused Yeori to conclude Penang has nothing much, hmm. Then we had a seafood feast of lobster thermidors squids fish and crabs which were dirt cheap.

Had a fish steamboat lunch at Starview, an absolute must with every Penang trip. New Year's eve dinner at the hotel was beyond utter disappointment and there wasn't much of a celebration at Gurney besides the fireworks lighted up right beside the hotel. We could have been at the wrong place.

Headed down to Ipoh for another seafood feast of crab porridge and groupa noodles and didnt get conned this time :) Got lost there while getting out to KL, and that was when the human instincts superseded the GPS. Dinner was the 4 storeys Overseas Restaurant which we booked together with the roast pork 1 week in advance. Pricey, but that is the one and ONLY roast pork I let my teeth sink into. The layers of wobbly fat, sigh.. IS WORTH IT haha.

Food in KL sucked but the shopping drove us all insane. Pavillion was huuuumongous and every label imaginable is stocked. Well, almost. My favourite Marc by Marc Jacobs Alessandra dress was 2k RM with 50% discount and I almost fainted when they had my size! Haha but yeah there's a catch to everything nice, mom thought the dress was ugly and she knows I wouldn't wear it for more than 2 seasons max, so it was a no :( Spent 2 days there, mainly F21 again which is slightly bigger than Penang's, Illy's cafe (the Italian barister makes coffEe 2die4) and FCUK where I got 2 dresses and a pair of shorts at very yummy prices.

This trip was fun with all the eating and shopping, but I felt it was totally useless, unexciting and a complete waste of time considering I could do those things back home too. Would rather soak up the rich history somewhere in Europe or some developing country filled with oriental culture like Vietnam/Cambodia/Silk Road. In 2009, maybe? Ok my current goal is to go backpacking along the Silk Road :)
